My grandfather has a Comcast email account but wants to just click his windows live shortcut to access it.

I added a new account to the windows live so he could access his Comcast email.

Currently he has to click the sync button in windows live to pull the emails from Comcast over to windows live.

Is that as good as it gets or is there a setting somewhere that will make the emails received at Comcast show up in windows live without hitting the sync button.

I am assuming he does not have a windows live account because while having it open he is not signed in and all emails sent from windows live show up as being from Comcast.net when they arrive so I don't think forwarding will work.

I hope that makes sense.

Look in here http://forums.comcast.com/t5/E-Mail-and-Xfinity-Connect-Help/Convert-Comcast-Mail-from-POP-to-IMAP/td-p/1458177 this may be some help

also https://xcbetasignup.comcast.net/imap_trial/web/ IMAP registration

Or You can setup a Google account and linked that to your comcast email and setup google to IMAP to Windows Live.

Comcast doesn't support IMAP function in residential services.

I do have a comcast email address but I prefer to use gmail.com

Thank you for the reply.

I will run that by him to see what he wants to do.

He is fine with hitting the sync button to get the emails to appear but I was curious if there was a setting I was missing.

The main thing is that he does not want to have to log into Comcast to get to his email, just click the windows live shortcut.

I will read up on the links you provided.

There is a setting you can check in Windows Live Mail.

Open up WLM.

Click the drop down arrow in the dark blue box, choose Options/Email Accounts.

Highlight the Comcast account, then click Properties.

Make sure Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing is checked. If not, check it and click APPLY.

About IMAP for Comcast, I signed up for it when was first released. I really like it a lot better than POP mail. If he decides to sign up for IMAP the above setting will still need to be enabled.

Thank you very much for that information. When I get a chance to stop back over there I will see if that "include this account" options is selected.

The weird thing is that he says before this all happened his emails to Comcast showed up in WLM.

Maybe somehow some setting got reset by accident.
