Hi all, I've had this computer for about a year now. Its an iBuyPower I got for a good deal off NewEgg. Its been running fine up until about a month or two ago. The video card had a fan rattle and I assumed it might be the culprit with the BSODs, so I went ahead and used that as an excuse to upgrade. Sadly this didn't fix the problem and I'm still getting them fairly regularly. I'd say once every few hours if I'm gaming. I've had BSODs pop up while playing Starcraft 2, Tomb Raider, and MechWarrior: Online. I've also had them happen when no games are running at all. I recently did a fresh install of Win7 64 and ran all the updates, along with a clean driver install for my new XFX Radeon 7870. I've run memtest for over 24 hours and the ram seems to be fine. I also made sure all my bios settings were stock. A friend suggested I try buying a new motherboard, but I figured I'd post here first to see if you guys might be able to tell me whats going on.

Computer Specs:

AMD FX-8120 stock cooler

Gigabyte M68MT-S2 motherboard

8gb of DDR3 1333 (2x4gb sticks)

120gb SSD main drive with Win7 64bit install

1TB backup drive

I'd really appreciate any help you might be able to give, thanks!

From what I see...your big problem is that Windows doesn't have enough free space on the Windows partition...to run properly.

I suggest that you move video files, games, whatever data files...from the SSD to the larger drive...until you have 15-20GB of free space on C:.  Then run the chkdsk /r command and see how the system runs.

All temps look good...you have errors that indicate possible overclocking, using the AMD software.

I suggest you remove AMD Fuel from installed programs temporarily.

I have 25gb free on my SSD now. I also disabled AMD Fuel and ran chkdsk /r. I haven't gotten any BSODs, but now Im getting random freezing. Its frozen both in games and just when I'm browsing the internet after the comp has been on a couple hours. Any more suggestions? Thanks!

To be a little more specific, the comp will freeze and won't even let me bring up the task manager with ctrl-alt-del. I've had the screen freeze, and was still able to talk for about 30 seconds to a minute on teamspeak before that also froze. If that helps at all with a diagnosis. At the point Im ready to just buy a new motherboard and processor, Im just worried that might not even fix the problem.

Well...I can only tell you this...randomly grasping at straws and replacing hardware components...can get expensive and more frustrating than trying to logically pinpoint the problem or problems.

You make the call.

Hi

I would recommend testing your system RAM first. You can use the free software Memtest86+ to stress test memory modules.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

You should run at least seven passes for an accurate result. It may take several hours to complete so it is better to run the test at overnight.
