Hello,

Every time the computer reboots the message "GetEseDbInfo.exe has stopped working" appears. Checking for solutions yields no results.

Since this message has started:

- Windows search has quit working and states that "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access them."

- IE will only show a white screen and will not allow the tools option to be accessed. It keeps trying to recover and  cannot find any solution. Attempted downgrade to IE 9, re-install of IE10, use windows fix, and microsoft safety scanner.

-  Sticky Notes is unable to launch as it cannot access the file.

I have run AVG, Advanced SystemCare, and Malware Anti-Malware but they all show up with nothing found. I don't know if these are all tied into together or are separate issues.

The computer is a Windows 7 64bit operating system.

Any help would be wonderful. Thank you!

Open Task Manager

Process (tab)

Find GetEseDbInfo.exe, right-click and select "Disable"

Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking.

ADW Cleaner
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
  • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
  • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
  • Click on Delete.
  • Confirm each time with Ok.
  • You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
  • Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
  • You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Last run ESET.
  • Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
  • Click the esetonlinebtn.png button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
  • Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the esetsmartinstaller_enu.png icon on your desktop.
  • Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
  • Click the Start button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
  • Scan potentially unwanted applications
  • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
  • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click List Threats
  • Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Click the Back button.
  • Click the Finish button.
  • NOTE:Sometimes if ESET finds no infections it will not create a log.

GetEseDbInfo.exe does not appear in the task manager (process tab).

The AdwCleaner and Eset reports are below.

Also, I found online where one person was having the exact same issue with the search access. They said it only did that if it was a corrupt user profile and to create a second account on the PC. If it worked then that meant that it was the profile. I tried it and it worked. IE worked, Sticky Notes worked, and Search worked. The GetEseDBInfo, exe error still appears though.  I think the computer is infected as something had to corrupt the profile. Is there anyway to fix it the profile? The only solution I've found on it is to copy everything over to the new profile,

Thank you so much for your help again!

The GetEseDbInfo.exe Error still appears upon bootup. Now select websties that worked before won't load. For example, Kongregate only shows basic text and broken image squares with x in the upper left corner of each one. When you click on the text for a game, the game screen appears over the text and is completely black. This is for all browers: IE, Firefox, and Chrome.

Edit: It's was the router. Got that fixed but the GetESEDBInfo.exe still appears.

Let's see if we can stop it.

System Configuration Utility (Windows 7, Vista, and XP)
  1. Press Window Key +r . In the "Open:" field, type msconfig and press Enter.

  2. Click the Startup tab.

  3. Uncheck the items you do not want to launch on startup.  ..

    GetESEDBInfo.exe

  4. When you have finished making your selections, click OK.

  5. In the box that appears, click Restart to restart your computer.

Pulled up the startup tab. However, GetESEDBInfo.exe isn't listed under the section.
