I have a program I have used for years that I recently downloaded the latest upgrade.
About the same time I ended up with the "Searchnu" redirection inssue. (don;t know
if they are connected).

Anyway now when I launch the program I get a "error encounterd opening file" The flles are

like supporintg modules that enhance the program. Without these files the program is just a
useless interface.

I've never had this happen in almost 12 years of using the program. I have seen other post on

the net of folks with the same problem.

I tried a system restore but I could go back before this happened.

I have uninstalled this program  and reinstalled but the problem persist.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME  ....PLEASE.

Thanks,

Rustin

When I asked for the make and model I was asking for the name of the manufacturer, like Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.  The model would be like as latitude, pavilion, NV 40 series, etc.

This probably is immaterial at this point, it looks like you may have a virus.

I'm not sure it there is a connection but I see I still have the "searchnu' thing on my computer trying to redirect my hotmail account I had a work around by simply blockng the site. I ran "Combo Fix " last night (among all the other virus  / malware programs I have run hoping to nail it. I unblocked

the "seachnu" site to see if it was gone but unfortunatly it is not. Could this be causing the "error encountered opening file' problem?

Are you saying that your computer is clean and you no longer need help, or do you still wish to receive help on this issue?

If you do not still need help, please stop here and let us know!

==========

If you still need help (and since you've already ran Combofix), I suggest you begin a new thread here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/22/virus-trojan-spyware-and-malware-removal-logs/

Please be sure to post the Combofix log in your new thread as it cannot be posted in this forum (find the log at C:\Combofix.txt)! Also, mention any problems you are still currently having with this machine.

Best regards,

bloopie

No my computer is not clean. If I unblock the searchnu sight my hotmail will be redirected as before. Though I can't find it with either software of manually it it still seems to be there.

Okay, then please follow the Preparation Guide and then post a new topic in the MRL forum as I have mentioned above so that the Bleeping Computer Staff can get you fully cleaned up!

Please be sure to post both the DDS log, and the Combofix log in your new topic there.

Please let me know when you have done the above!
