Hello,

I am working on a computer where the user lent their machine to someone else for the weekend. When it was returned many major files after 2008 were missing, and some important programs gone (they do not remember the name of the programs).

The first things I thought were, either they were deleted, or a system retore took place. I used the freeware program "Recuva" and found some of the users music and pictures. However no documents could be found.

I don't beleive it's due to malware or any sort of virus, and there seems to have been no system restore that took place. I'm running out of ideas and really need to help this person out.

Any tips guys?

Start with Windows Vista System Restore Guide and then read all of the tutorials at the top of the Vista forum area -

Next list the Make and Model - Please post a snapshot with Speccy for more system details -

Keep trying with Recuva (and there are several other free programs) but you should be able to get most of the data back -

Thank You -
