NOTE: There is a bug in this release which may prevent you from opening a new tab from the tab bar (double-click or plus sign). I have reverted to version 23 for now.

Wait..I thought Firefox was on Firefox 25 or 26 now..

I cannot find any reference beyond V24, but if there is a V25 & V26 and V24 is screwed up on tabs, then God help us. Use Google Chrome until Firefox get their elementary program  corrected.

Blame the problem on a users addons ? Rubbish ! The Firefox installation wizard has an addon compatibility check included. If an addon is not compatible, it is listed and automatically disabled. All mine passed with flying colours, yet the tabs did not work.

Where does the fault lay ? With Firefox !

STOP PRESS

Only today did I find out what was preventing my tabs from working with V24. It was the Google Toolbar addon.

I disabled it and V24 went in without a fault and all the tabs now work perfectly.

I have juggled the Google Toolbar into Firefox successfully ever since V3, but for some reason V24 will not accept the magic fiddles any more.

A sad loss of an old friend, I will be in mourning for a few months to come.

I'll pass on 24 in favor of Google Toolbar

Allan,

Good comment. We can either have V23 and a Google Toolbar or V24 and no Google Toolbar.

Between you and me, I only stuck at this problem out of sheer technical doggedness.

Now it is solved, I am going back to V23. As we all know, the difference between browser versions is in general minuscule and only matters if something significant is introduced - a rare occasion.

Yabba

Precisely. Firefox's fast track release program introduces incremental rather than significant changes. I'm comfortable with the current version for now.

Since Firefox 24 updated I can no longer use the spell check by right clicking in the text I have typed on Care2.com in either the internal personal messaging system or in the group posts.  Before the update that option had to be turned on by right clicking then clicking check spelling in each post.   Now when I right click in the text the options to check spelling or choose language is not there, only the option to add a dictionary.  Out of frustration I added the British English dictionary even though I usually use the Canadian English one, but that did not help either.  I have the box checked to check spelling as I type under Tools, Options.  A help request on the Mozilla forum has so far not helped.  Have started in Firefox safe mode and with the default theme, deleted all that sites cookies and cleared cache but that did not help.  Any ideas on what else I can try?

Firefox V24 buried with full Firefox honours and V23 resurrected with pride and joy.

Happy days are here again

Your cares and troubles with V24 are gone

There`ll be no more lost tabs now on

Happy days are here again

You`ll get your Google Toolbar back

Without any tears from that update tack

And we`ll all enjoy our goodies back

Happy days are here again
