I just installed a memory upgrade to my laptop (form 4GB to 8GB by adding an additional 4GB card) , and I am noticing a substantial improvement in performance, however the increase in memory is not showing up in the WIndows system basic information pane or when I run a system check in Speccy.

I am currently running Windows 8, 64 bit

Installed a Memory Max SDRAM 204 Pin Memory Module, 4GB

Any thoughts?

It would help...if we knew manufacturer and model laptop...and what RAM module was installed before addition.

A link to the purchased module would also be useful.

Sorry! I knew I was missing something after I posted. I even read the forum rules. I suck.

I have an acer aspire V3-571-6643. The ram card was installed in the factory, I simply added another card to the slot.

The RAM vendor site is http://www.monstermemory.com/index_sub5.html. I didn't see any links directly to the type of chip I bought.

Well...what made you buy the module that you acquired? What made you think that it was the right fit for your system? Do you have the packaging? Can you post the what is reflected on the packaging?

The guy at the electronics store matched it to the computer. I just bod the card and installed it at home.

The packaging was plain, nothing written or stamped on it.

The specs on the card are:

Monster Memory

4GB PC3-10600 (1333Mhz) DDR3 204PIN SO-DIMM

PN: x51642733P

Remove the old module...put the new module in its place.  Does the system boot and recognize properly?

Remove the new...put the old in its place...does the system boot and recognize properly?

Does the BIOS recognize properly for each of the above?

Then do the same drill, using both RAM modules.
