Hello, I am having significant issues x 4 months. My problems started on getting the FBI virus. We took the computer in to a long-trusted place and had it removed, but did have to wipe and reinstall Windows 7. Since that time, problems with crashes have worsened gradually. I had to do another reinstall this summer when Windows stopped working, with a full wipe. The computer has been making a lot of noise, like it is overheated. The fans are all functioning.

We took it in 2 weeks ago and the hard drive had to be replaced and AGAIN another clean install. In spite of this, the crashes have worsened to the point it's not really usable. We are going to try installing a video card a friend gave us, which is a better model because I think the video card may have somehow gotten fried. It crashes all the way down and there are problems with Start Up (it often won't). But we needed a 4 to 6 pin cord which we can't find in stores, so we ordered one.

Is it worth bothering with, though? Did the FBI virus just basically destroy something permanently in spite of the removal? Do we need to replace the power source instead? Should I just pitch it and save money for a new one?

It's only 18 months old, and we don't have much money so I hate dealing with these expenses. I play a graphics-intensive MMO so I need a good one and this one did fine until we got that virus.

Argh. The dang thing died completely this morning. Caught a glimpse of internal temps and looks like it was pushing 160f. So I guess the power source is the problem and graphics card probably burnt out. Thanks for the help anyway.
