I just bought The Sims 3 and when i play it for about 3 minutes my laptop fully shuts down. I was wondering if there was any way to play it without my laptop overheating.

My laptop is the Dell Precision M90. I don't know why it wont run even though I exceed the minimum system requirements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just noticed that my hard drive is hot. (i know because it isn't covered).

Could this possibly be the reason why it keeps shutting off?

Well, it's a pretty old machine.  Does the fan run? If the fan in the PSU is not running it could cause all kinds of over heating issues.
