Hello, I have a gateway desktop who has the following cards that I need to find the drivers before I upgrade the machine to Windows 7.

  • Raedon X1600/X1650 Series
  • Broadcomm Netxreme Gigabit ethernet
  • Creative SB X-FI

If someone knows if the Windows 7 OS will automatically find any of these, please let me know.

Hi

Raedon X1600/X1650 Series is not officially Windows 7 certified. AMD didn't seems to provide a Windows 7 version for legacy graphic cards. However Vista version of the drivers may work without Aero support. You can try installing that version.

AMD’s DirectX 9 ATI Radeon graphics accelerators are not officially supported under Windows 7.   If the user chooses to, they can install the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7.   Please be aware that none of the new Windows 7 graphics driver (WDDM 1.1) features are supported (as the Windows Vista level graphics driver is limited to WDDM 1.0 level support).

Most probably Windows 7 in house driver collection support the Broadcomm LAN adapter. Create sound card Windows 7 drivers can be downloaded from the below link.

What does that mean (Aero) Support?  Does that mean the drivers will not work?

Hi

What does that mean (Aero) Support?  Does that mean the drivers will not work?

Basic display driver features will work. You can adjust screen resolution, play movies etc but you won't be ale to enable Aero glass effect. That is just an eye candy feature and can be ignored.

Make sure the system specs meats the minimum requirement.
