Recently the "start" + "Turn off computer" procedure has changed. Originally this combination would automatically power down the computer after doing the Window's shutdown. But now it does a restart, and not the power down,

Also the "Turn off computer" pop up has "standby" greyed out.

Can anyone suggest where the problem may be?

Thanks to all

Richard

You have two backup programs listed...Paragon Backup & Recovery™ 2013 and EZBack-it-up 2.0.  I'm not familiar with either but it occurs to me that they may possibly conflict in what it is that they attempt to accomplish.

Agree with TsVkl...Security Center, connection problems could point to malware.  Last time you ran a scan with updated AV?

The requested Speccy snapshot...would provide better data to work with.

Dear all

In response to TsCk! - have no trouble opening Task Manager.

And to Moderator (Louis) although I have it I have never used Paragon Backup & Recovery and have now uninstalled it -  with no difference to the shut down effect.

Ran a scan with AVG2013.0.3408 a yesterday with no change to anything.

I have uninstalled the Logitech programmes and the problem is now solved.

There were three programmes involved with Logitech - keyboard - iTouch and mouseware. I removed each in turn and checked for correction arfter each uninstall. The first two made no difference, but removal of the mouseware cured the problem.

Thanks for your help and advice

Richard
