Are there any power toys or shell extensions or other somesuch that allow DVD's to be burnt like CD's right from the Windows Explorer? Nero has been pissing me off lately and I don't want to shell out money if I don't have to.

In order to burn CD's that way, you need an extra bit of software. Turns out InCD, which comes with Nero, is that software. If you have InCD, you should be able to drag files into a burnable folder.

Make sure InCD is updated (from the Nero site) because a bug in it can prevent going into Safe Mode.

CD Burner XP Pro is a program that can write to DVD's and CD's.

Info on backup options here.

It is my understanding that the next version of Windows - Vista - will have a feature allowing you to burn DVDs using Windows. But not XP.

BTW, Vista is due out in Jan '07.

 Vista! I can't wait! A whole new OS that's so modern and new that the security holes and bugs in it will be a thousand times more damaging and costly and will shock and awe us all into using Linux. :flowers:
