So I made this thread on the security section http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/506418/extremely-slow-start-up-unresponsive-after-idling/

and it looked like i had nothing malicious.

Start up takes anywhere from 30 minutes to forever (haven't timed it objectively, but sometimes it takes so long I just manually shut down the computer while it's still starting to try rebooting it again). Also if I leave the computer idling and then get back, it can be frustrating long before it starts going at a normal pace again, if I accumulate too many actions (trying to open differen applications, the computer can stay sluggish forever).

I've had this problem sightly before, mainly when i was idling and skype was on, but then it magically disappears. Now it's back and it happens even without skype being on.

It takes lots of time to start safe mode as well but not as much as normal, and also it hasn't taken forever yet to start up safe mode. I don't seem to have a problem with idling on safe mode as well.

Try downloading Speccy and then install the program.  To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

How to obtain hard drive S.M.A.R.T data on a Windows system and then paste the report into a forum post

  • Download the GSmartControl installer application:
    • Go to the GSmartControl - Downloads page.
    • Scroll part way down the page to where the current version available for download will be displayed.
      gsmartcontrolwindowsdownload.jpeg
  • Double-click the downloaded application to run it and install GSmartControl on the computer.
Note: Vista/Win7 users, right-click > Run as Administrator
  • When installation is complete, run GSmartControl:
    • Start GSmartControl from the Start > Programs menu.
  • When the interface has loaded and scanning for hard drives is complete, click on the hard drive icon to select the device.
  • Go to Device on the top menu > View Details, and a new Device Information window will open.
  • Click on the Attributes tab to display the S.M.A.R.T data values.
  • Near the bottom of the window, click on View Output and a new Smartctl Output window will open.
  • Right-click anywhere inside that window > Select All.
  • Again right-click in that selected area > Copy.
  • Now paste that in a reply to your topic.
Note: Please enclose the pasted report in CODE tags so that the spacing/formatting is preserved (to make it easier for all to read).
    • Firstly, click on the "Insert code snippet" button insertcodesnippetdetail2.jpeg
    • You will then see the "start" and "end" code tags (highlighted in dark blue/selected in the image) in the text box.
    • Click between the two tags to insert the cursor between the tags and then press <Ctrl+V> to paste the report there.

Download Autoruns
After extracting, double click autoruns and go to File - Save - Filename : Autoruns
Save as type : Text. Copy and Paste the text on your next reply

Note: I ran all these programs on safemode to avoid freezing and super slow startup

Speccy doesn't work. It gives me this error message : cpu dll init failed (eror 2)! Some information will not be isplayed!

and then it shuts down after a while.

Let us skip all other activities and focus on this flag attribute. While SMART readings are useful for cross reference checking on hard drive health status, at this point, it is time to backup your data if not already done. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.M.A.R.T. The problem emanates from your bad drive. In case that windows is unbootable or causing failure boot-up, use Puppy Linux live disc to extract data from your failing hard drive.

Oh lawdy, I'll to it right away, I guess. It's my first time back upping stuff and it might be my first time replacing my HDD. How long do I have for researching how to go about things, before I can't boot anymore at all and/or the drive fails?

It should be as soon as possible. The live disc link would be able to give you the correct steps on how to mount a portable external drive.
