I just reloaded windows 7 and checked for updates but it said the laptop is up to date but I am seeing 2 problems, the dvd video looks choppy and I can access the net with a wired connecttion and not seeing any wireless option but in the DM it shows that the Network Controller driver is not installed so I am guessing that's why I am not seeing a wireless option? I am looking here but there are too many drivers listed, can anyone tell me exactly whic drivers I should try for the video and wireless please?

As I see it, You need to select the Windows 7 drivers. Since You do not say whether your ThinkPad Edge 13 / E30 / E31 is 32 Bit or 64bit make sure you get the matching driver. Then if there is more than one use the latest one.

What I'm not seeing is a Windows 7 Video Driver. How old is the laptop?

What is the machine type? It is usually a four digit on the Bottom of the laptop.

Thank You

Roger

I am not seeing a model number anywhere on this unit, all it shows is Thinkpad Edge on the palmrest area and Type 0319 pn the bottom, it's a 32 bit. Judging by the specs it's a powerful unit so not too old I would think, after the updates the video is now fixed, onlt the Network controller driver needs to be installed.

Thinkpad (Lenovo) do not use model numbers the Type number is what they use. Yours is a Type 0319

There should be more after the type 0319, or example 0319 2AG

Those other three alphanumeric digits define the exact hardware in the laptop. For example 0319 2AG is a Thinkpad Edge 15. What is the rest of the machine type and what size screen as a double check. 13", 15"?

Edit, I see you post 0319 pn, let me look and see what I find.

Good Luck

Awaiting feedback

Roger

There aren't any numbers after 0319, there is a bar code underneath with serial and part numbers, the screen size is 15"

After updating the video fixed itself but I am confused about the Network controller, this is listed under "Other Devices". When I look under "Network Adapters", I am seeing this:
Realtek RTL8168D Family PCI-E Gigabit ehternet NIC [NDIS 6.20]

I don't know what this means or how that info will help me select the correct driver?

That helps, ThinkPad Edge 15, 0319

This Looks like what You need.

Wireless  looks like Intel Wireless LAN (11bgn) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/g1w218ww_s32.exe

or http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/6mws21ww.exe

Video README for Intel Display Driver  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/80d812ww.txt

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/80d812ww.exe

These are for 32Bit which is what You mentioned you had. if you are running 64Bit You will need different drivers.

Good Luck

Roger

Those two were my first guess but after those did not work I decided to try ALL of them and the one that worked was this one:

ThinkPad 1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP - ThinkPad ...

but thank you very much for your help!
