I did this and there were quite a number of files to be removed - it is re-booting now.

Clean out Temp Files -

Please download TFC, or Temp File Cleaner by Old Timer.
Usage Instructions:

  • Download TFC from the download link above and save the file on your desktop.
  • Close ALL running applications as TFC will terminate them before attempting to clean up the temporary files.
  • Double-click on the TFC icon.
  • When the program opens, click on the Start button.  TFC will terminate the Explorer process and all running applications and then begin the process of cleaning out all of your temp folders.
  • When done, press OK to reboot your computer and finish the cleanup.

Note: Depending on how much data is currently stored in the Temp folders, this process can take quite a while to remove all of the files, so please be patient.

Hi -

Working on the best (better) way to do this -

Do you know if the install CDs for the printer still exist ?

We may just uninstall and reinstall if you have the media -

Thanks -

I am pretty sure I have them but they are probable at the other house and I won't be there for a week.  I'll have to check when I get up there.

First -

What are your "current problems" (and MBAM will find daily infections) .

I mean more in operating problems ............

We can worry about the printer soon, as you can disable that in a flick-

I guess I am more worried about the PUP virus/malware but don't know if I really need to worry about it.  Do I??

Is there anything in the downloads that I should worry about?  I will do whatever you tell me to do.  I'll look for the printer items when I get ther - that is where this Brother printer is.

Hi -

Just open Autoruns again and remove these 2 items > >

These are old and orphaned - Right click and Delete the line, or at least Untick them so they are not active.
"WDICA"    ""    ""    "File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\WDICA.sys"
"WSIMD"    ""    ""    "File not found: System32\DRIVERS\wsimd.sys"

If the printer item is not causing a direct problem, then you can leave it as is.

This was about the only Error that kept popping up, so I thought it may cause a problem.

Apart from that, I was only looking for problems that may upset the computer.

Update and Run MBAM at least twice a week now, and just remove those PUPs as they show up.

Thanks -
