Adobe Reader brings up an error every time saying an unexpected error occurs and asks to send a report.

"Adobe reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

-----Error Signature

Appname: acrord32.exe       AppVer: 11.0.3.37       ModName: acrord32.exe    ModVer:  11.0.3.37   Offset: 000c6ab0

------

{{{ Exception Information

Code: 0x40000015     Flags: 0x00000001     Record: 0x0000000000000000   Address: 0x00000000004c6ab0

}}}

You can move the report to the side and the program runs fine. However if you close the program the error persists. If you close the error the program goes down as well.

I have uninstalled it with an adobe uninstaller and re installed after removing temp files and checking the registry. I have removed alternate language add ons for adobe and I have run anti virus/malware scans and I have checked to see if there was another pdf reader. (There is not all).

I have tried the uninstall multiple times with different programs and manually through Add/Remove, with reboots in-between both of them.

I have checked adobe forums and they say uninstall/reinstall to no success.

The version installed currently is  Adobe XI.

Windows XP   32-bit  SP-3

Problem started about a month ago. - Have tried older versions, same problem.

Fully updated on windows updates.

Any advice?

Thanks

-J

124Gb free, 112 Gb used.

Cpu sits at 12% with adobe, outlook and a website open.

Ram sits at 23% with same 3 open.

Disk is 11% fragmented.

No temp files or cookies left. Disk cleanup has been run.

Thanks

There are alternatives to Adobe Reader. It may be worth it to try one of them. I got rid of Adobe Reader years ago. At the very least you could give one of them a try and if you like it uninstall Adobe Reader. My philosophy is that sometimes it's better to move on to something else instead of investing time and energy in an effort to figure out what's wrong with a program.

This is the one I use. Despite the BUY button on the page this is a free version.

http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer

Another one is Foxit http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/ free version.

There are others you can find by doing a search for Adobe Reader alternatives. Someone else could also post different readers.

As with anything you install make sure you opt out of anything added in such as toolbars or whatever is bundled into the program.

Thank you for that suggestion, but its a company Pc that needs to have multiple non tech domain users logging onto it and as such changing adobe to another program may not go over so well with them when they try to find it or to interact with it.

This is why im trying to get it up and running without having to move the error to the side.

Thanks

-J

That is a great fall back though. Thanks for the reply.

I can certainly understand why you want to keep Adobe on it.

You seem to have a lot of connection-related errors, with Outlook, time synch, and other errors.

It might help if you would post the link to the Speccy snapshot, as previously requested.

The user has turned off the pc for the day, so I will post that up tomorrow , but I did post the main display summary of Speccy on the post below the logs.

The summary...isn't nearly as useful as all the detail info that incorporates into the summary screen.  If you take a look at it tomorrow, you will see what I mean :).

:thumbup2: , thanks :).

It will be about an hour before I have a chance to review the data...time to eat :).

Louis

Well...I don't really see anything differently than I did before...you have connectvity issues of some sort, but I cannot pinpoint what or how.

You have wireless and ethernet connections...which is used as main domain connection?

FWIW:  http://communities.intel.com/thread/33916

You have Agere modem enabled...what for?

All the other data I looked at looked pretty routine to me and is non-indicative of a problem.  It's only your Event Viewer errors that indicate such.

If it were me...I would uninstall all drivers for connectivity devices...then reinstall same.  I would not even install the Agere drivers unless dialup is used for something.

I would also uninstall the Adobe software...all of it...then reinstall app by app.  I've never understood the value of Adobe Air...but I would not install Acrobat Reader until I had cleaned up the other Event Viewer errors reflected.

I have removed all adobe programs and have not reinstalled any but reader and then air. (they have a program that requires it)

They are all wired and the wireless is disabled. They used to be dial up a ways back but that has not been used and has not been updates in over 3+ years.

This issue started recently without any update or configuration change made by us or the user.

Thanks

-Jason
