I have been through hoops and ladders with this to no avail.. I have a windows 7 64bit laptop . I also have a disc for it.

Well on the Security Center I get the common error that other users get.

In the control panel, The Windows Security Center Service cannot be turned on

I have typed into the search every command possible I have shexview installed and see the it there but it is not in service. In shexview

it says it is on in the control panel but everything else is set to no... I do not know if I can change the values in notepad+.

I see it in the registry. All over but yet I cannot use it.

I ran spybot, microsoft security essentials and even typed the scannow into my Command Pompt.

The disc I have I am not certain will work only because it was given to me by the computer store after they reinstalled it after a problem with the system restore discs I made off the computer. Besides I have a lot of websites I made with dreamweaver on here.I dabble in  webdesign.

I am frustrated to say the least... both my husband's computer ( he has the same one ) and my mothers"s windows 7 desktop work... why doesn't mine?

I hope someone can direct me as to what to do... but Thank you for reading this all the same..

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:

List last 10 Event Viewer log

  List Installed Programs

List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic323892.html/page__p__1797792#entry1797792 , taking care to post the link of the snapshot here.

Now I notice that Microsoft Security Essentials says the install was cancelled but it is on my system as my default antivirus .. why?

Since you ran ComboFix and believe that it was effective...I suggest that you initiate a new topic, following the instructions at Preparation Guide, Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting Help - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic34773.html ,  Post the new topic in the forum containing the Prep Guide...and include your ComboFix log data.  Paste the DDS log and the ComboFix log contents into your new topic, rather than submit them as attachments.

Once that is done, this topic will be closed to avoid confusion.

Thanks :).

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.
From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.
Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.
The current wait time is 1 - 2 days and ALL logs are answered.
If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
