Startup Repair says "bad hard disk" on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L755).

Replacing the hard drive isn't a problem but I don't have the recovery discs. I don't want to have to buy a replacement set if I don't have to so I started looking up workarounds: http://www.hobwebs.com/windows-issues/recovery-of-toshiba-laptop-using-swm-files/ I've tried a few different boot CDs but I'm unable to locate the .swm files with each of them. Any ideas or other possible solutions?

Thanks in advance.
