Hi, just found bleeping computer and this forum. Both speccy and Minitoolbox work great.

Lots to explore here.

Anyway it is the bsod that I am writing about - enclosed a couple of mini dumps and the Minitoolbox I just ran.

I always get the bsod after sleep mode -  netio and tcpip. So the last few days I have extended sleep mode and now I switch off each night and cold start the next day - after 3 days no bsod, Heard that bsod was caused by outdated drivers - strange you would think that the same drivers would start the same even after sleep mode.

Hi

Is this a clean install or an upgrade from Windows 7 ? . Several of the drivers are severely outdated and that is why i asked.

Please upload a system information report to help identifying the correct drivers.

1. Open RUN dialogue by pressing Windows key + R together.

2. Type msinfo32.exe and press enter key. Microsoft system information utility will open.

3. Choose File --> Save and give the name System info.

Upload or attach the output file in next reply.

Hi Anshad,

Yes, this was the special offer for uppgrading  win 7 to win 8 around nov dec last year..

The bsod started around 26/7

Seems to be Tohshiba bluetooth and Atheros drivers

Did driver upgrades but old driver files still there.

Maybe best to take away Toshiba bluetooth and use microsoft instead ?

Tried to link outlook.com in Samsung s2 with desktop outlook using hotmail connecter, but it was really slowing down outlook so I took it away -probably around time bsod started to appear - co-incidence ?

Computer quite slow at the moment.

Hi

Your issue seems to be probably caused by athw8x.sys which is part of the Atheroz WiFi driver.

fffff880`02af7ab8 fffff880`054e43f3Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\athw8x.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for athw8x.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for athw8x.sys
 athw8x+0x2103f3

Updating the driver will probably solve the BSOD . Please follow the below instructions.

:step1: Uninstall current drivers.

Open Control Panel --> Programs and uninstall old drivers in the following orderIf any of the drivers require a restart, please allow them to do so before proceeding to the next uninstall.

Atheros Driver Installation Program (Version: 9.2)

Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba

     Atheros Bluetooth Filter Driver Package

     Conexant HD Audio (Version: 8.51.1.0)

Also uninstall Networx completely. It is one of the  well known blue screen and crash inducing program. In some systems, kernel mode drivers used by this program may corrupts LAN/WLAN drivers and thus leads to a blue screen issue.

:step2: Uninstall factory pre-installed softwares.

There are some factory installed apps in your system which are not really compatible with Windows 8 (they are Windows 7 ones ). Please uninstall them.

    TOSHIBA Assist (Version: 4.02.02)
    TOSHIBA Bulletin Board (Version: 2.0.16.64)
    TOSHIBA ConfigFree (Version: 8.0.37)
    TOSHIBA eco Utility (Version: 1.2.23.64)
    TOSHIBA Hardware Setup (Version: 4.09.01.00)
    TOSHIBA HDD/SSD Alert (Version: 3.1.64.7)
    Toshiba Manuals (Version: 10.02)
TOSHIBA Online Product Information (Version: 4.00.0008)
    TOSHIBA ReelTime (Version: 1.7.17.64)
    TOSHIBA Service Station (Version: 2.2.9)
    TOSHIBA Sleep Utility (Version: 1.4.2.7)
    TOSHIBA Supervisor Password (Version: 4.09.01.00)
    TOSHIBA TEMPRO (Version: 3.35)
    TOSHIBA Upgrade Assistant (Version: 1.0.3.6)
TOSHIBA Value Added Package (Version: 1.5.4.64)
TOSHIBA Web Camera Application (Version: 2.0.0.19)

:step3: Update drivers.

Download and install the latest drivers from the below link.

WiFi   : http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/tc50160400b.exe

Audio : http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/tc70148100d.exe

I will post the download link to Bluetooth later.

Report how the system works after updating the wireless driver.

Hi Anshad,

Not used to this amazing service !

All your actions done. - can be a coincidence but ....

Currently running wi-fi to broadband -     used to be 15-25 Mbps - right now speed is much lower  3-5 Mbps  download of drivers really slow.

Will try another restart of modem/router

Brian

Just to confirm wi-fi is seriously down on speed. Anything to do or check ?

Hi

May be the latest driver is not fully compatible with your model. Please try downgrading the version. First uninstall the currently installed driver completely from the system. Then download and install the below one.

Hi,

Seems marginally better. On Speedtest I get a 3 second burst at around 10 Mbps then it falls off to around 1.5 Mbps.

Getting 20 Mbps on LAN continuous.

Noticed same result even before I installed the new driver - so there must be another wi-fi driver somewhere.

Hi

Wired connection is always faster than Wifi so don't compare the WLAN speed with Ethernet connection speed. Apart from that, how the system generally works ?. Did you received any BSOD since uninstalling Networx and re-installing WiFI driver ?.

Hi.

No, I have had no BSOD since all your advice.

The feeling is great - so far.

My computer has gone in and out of sleep mode at least 6 - 7 times without crashing.

I had tried with help from the Microsoft community, they were less accurate with the driver information and said nothing about the original driver package.

So I am really pleased this far - excellent advice.
