My ie "favorites" bookmarks are endlessly duplicating and cannot be deleted.  Is there any way to save my bookmarks and get rid of the copies?

Click start, run, type %userprofile%\Favorites and press enter. See what's going on in there with Windows Explorer.

Maybe it's an ie bug.  In the favorites file there are a Favorites Bar file, My Favoyrites file and 2 files I did not create, one called Misc. which cannot be deleted (Error deleting file or folder.  Cannot delete file:  Cannot read from the source file or disk) and another file which I've renamed WTH which has a subfile which keeps duplicating.  I've counted 25 subfiles under it and it will not be deleted.  When I try, I get an error:  Error deleting file or folder - cannot delete My Scans: the file name you specified is not valid or too long.  Specify a different file name.

Hmmm...now that I think about what you posted...I've always found it impossible for favorites to duplicate.  Windows/IE will automatically replace a like file with its twin.

The contents of the Favorites folders are nothing but shortcuts to webpages.

.<<..and another file which I've renamed WTH...>>

Why did you rename it, what sas the original name?

Please dump your browser cache.

Your Favorites folder should have contained a lot more than you reported...please take a screen shot of the folder contents (using Details view) and post same.

I dumped my browser cache. Attached is a screen shot of my favorites file. You can see how many subfiles there are.  One of the the Misc. files cannot be deleted (Error deleting file) and the second Misc. file just popped up today.  I don't remember what the original name of the WTH file was.  Would it help if I deleted and reinstalled internet explorer? I would be willing to lose all the bookmarks.  Also, should I be concerned at all those error messages in my minitoolbox log?  Thanks.

On your last post...at the bottom right...click the EDIT button.

Bottom center of new screen...click Use Full Editor.

You should now clearly see the capability to attach/upload a graphics file as an attachment.

No, deleting IE will not touch your favorites.

Right click that WTH folder in Windows Explorer and search. See if there's anything in there you want to save. If so move it to the top level.

Download Unlocker and install. When installing do as the images below.

Right click the folder and send to Unlocker. It may tell you that it need to reboot to delete it. Go ahead.

You ask questions...as if I have answers...to an undetermined problem :).

That screenshot reflects something I've not seen before...my first guess would be malware, since it's not typical of folders to replicate themselves within Windows.

Moving topic to Am I Infected forum.

Unlocker did the trick - I successfully deleted the WTH file, and the two Misc. files!  Thanks!

And my computer created a new misc. file in Favorites.  It seems to happen when I reboot.  I will use unlocker again.
