Recently started getting blue screen crashes. Today I was able to open windows and everytime I tried to open an .EXE or .COM file, a popup comes up saying "Windows Security" "these files can't be opened". My antivirus will not load on startup. I can't even open files from a CD or USB drive.

It will not let me change any security settings or even view security status.

This happens in safe mode, with or without networking, also.

I have no way of accessing the internet to download anything.

Also, it will not let me open any photos or Office documents. Something about a side-by-side configuration problem.

This security issue is because some dangerous fake antivirus program is installed into your system. This does not allow user to open files with certain extension as it is happening with you. This is an irritating virus and you need to remove it with the help of your antivirus. With this security virus you can get spam ads, phishy mails and it act as a doorway for other virus and online hackers.

You can get some help on removing windows security virus with: http://guides.yoosecurity.com/how-to-remove-win-7-security-2013-virus-spyware-from-the-registry/

One of the important steps to get rid of this virus is to have an antivirus tool that can provide your computer complete security from malware, virus, Trojan, spyware. Get some efficient and stronger protection tool like Immunet Plus, Norton, Bitdefender, Panda, Avira, Avast, Kaspersky etc for your laptop for better protection.
