Hi recently I have been having problems with the wireless internet as my laptop's connection drops and disconnects at time. Every time I go to diagnose connection I always receive the same solution which was problem with network adapter or access point, in which would later be fixed automatically by resetting it. Although every time my connection lags and starts dropping the same problem arises as I diagnose it again. I have tried everything with the cmd prompt such as reset and flush and also uninstalling, reinstalling, and updating the network adapter but no luck.

I have a ASUS X53E laptop

Windows 8 64-bit

Network Adapter: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter (up to date)

I am connected wireless to my ISP (Telus) router : Actiontec V1000H Wireless N VDSL Modem Router

My laptop is located in the basement as with the router since that is where it was placed when the technician came over to set up the box and everything.

Internet : Cable? My phone, tv and internet is connected to that one router

Not familiar with your ISP router but try changing some settings on your wireless settings such as wireless channel from auto to another # output, frequency from 20/40 auto to 20 ghz or 40 ghz and wireless mode from mixed (b/g/n) to b/g or n mode only. See if these features or any is present then check on the difference. By the way, :welcome: to Bleeping Computer Forum!

Try using a different combination - b/g mode - channel (5,6 back to auto)with and channel (20/40 or auto). Disable also IPV6 by going to Network and Sharing Center - Change Adapter Settings and right-click wireless adapter - Properties then uncheck TCP/IPV6, Ok. While on Properties, highlight IPV4 and click Properties then use obtain automatic DNS server.

Tried most of that already but nothing seems to help my connection.

So 3 days ago my ISP tech came by and swapped the router with a new router and I still have been disconnecting issues with the laptop.

It seems that your Wireless driver is not from Asus support site? The Windows 8 wireless Atheros driver is found here. Go to Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the current driver then install the correct Atheros wireless driver (Version  V10.0.0.209) from the given link.

So I uninstalled the driver and installed the one directly from the link you provided. Did you want a new mini tool box result?

Let us know if you are still having connection problems. Only then you can post a new MinitoolBox log. :thumbup2:

Yeah I am still getting issues with my connection. I have no idea whats causing this. Diagnosing my connection will always be something wrong with wireless adapter access point in which will say fixed but when the problem arises again same message.

Did you check if the distance could be causing the dropping connection problems? Another possibility is Wifi interferences.

I don't think its the distance since my brother who is in the room beside me with the same exact laptop does not receive any issues with the connection dropping. Both our rooms are in the basement so is the ISP router which was setup in the basement when we first signed up with them. We can't really move the router either because they had run down the lines from the upstairs to the basement and did a lot of drilling. Although it seemed that when they ran the line from upstairs to the basement the lines were right beside our house  power box, not sure if that might be causing the wifi issues or not.

I would try going to that route just to isolate the problem of distance or interferences. Wireless tends to be finicky and unless there is a USB wireless adapter available just to rule out the wifi card is not acting faulty, then its the option we could take.
