62 yr old tech. Was terminated from my job of 15 yrs. Jan 2013 after having surgery. Was sent an email that said due to economic issues my job had been done away with. After 15 yrs. of service to the same company I was told I would get a $600. severance check which I never got and then the owner tried to  deny my unemployment claim which I beat and got. 2 weeks later they hired a tech 30+ years younger than me. Go figure. So plan to start my own IT, sole proprietor business.

Good Luck with the business.

That is a difference from myself. Where I was working the owner wanted to get rid of one of two of us. I believe I was approaching 62 then. The other Guy and I both tried to be the one to go. I lost and had to stay and he got to go on unemployment and enjoy life. It stayed open until Sandy hit three years later. I was tired of working 6 days a week for 53 hours a week by then.

I worked there 16 years and the previous job for 14 years.

Good Luck
