Welcome to BC dogaholic

avast has been releasing program updates for years by naming them with consecutive numbers - i.e. avast 6, avast 7, avast 8. I have not read any information (avast website, forums, elsewhere) to indicate they would be changing that.

Uh... How about the 2nd paragraph of that 2014 txt file??

"Last but not least, it also allows us to appropriately use the year moniker in the version name (i.e. in this case Avast 2014) – which is somewhat controversial (people have sort of love/hate relationship with it), but the fact is, for people who don’t necessarily follow the product too closely it’s good concept: it’s easy to recognize that version 2014 is probably the latest, while if it were version 9 it wouldn’t really say anything."

I cannot confirm the information provided is officially from avast....I noted what avast has been doing in regards to their naming scheme based on actual facts.
