Does anyone know of a free spreadsheet program they would recommend/reliable and somewhere to download it that is safe?

I'm getting very leery of downloading anything because its so easy to get more than you bargained for, sadly, sometimes even if you exercise caution.

Gnumeric.  Do a search for Gnumeric, maybe you'll find connected to some group called Gnome - I forgot exactly.  You can download and install the installable version, or you can get a portable version of Gnumeric through portableapps.com

Thanks I'll check that one out too.   I've heard of it but didn't know it had a spreadsheet too.

There is also LibreOffice. Yet another free Microsoft compatible office suite.

Great ! I will check out Libre as well.   Is there one that is easier/fewer bugs?   I think I used Open Office for Word Processing before and had a lot of problems with it so I tried Jarte which works really well, its intuitive which helps.

But Jarte doesn't have any of the extras like Spreadsheets and Data Base.

Thanks for your suggestions.

LibreOffice is a Office program already installed in Ubuntu Linux, which means that it is better. Also, LibreOffice use Theme like Microdoft Office 2007 or 2010, so it is easier to use than OpenOffice that uses MSOffice 2003 theme.

I've had SO MUCH trouble lately with picking up unwanted stuff messing up my computer whenever i download something lately I wonder if you have a safe link to Libre Office?   If you provided one I must have missed it?

I looked around but couldn't find a source I felt familiar/comfortable with?

thanks.
