Hello,

My brother left me a message about getting rid of a virus. By the time I got home and called him back he had managed to use his disc to restore his computer to an earlier time.

My question is, while he managed to restore his computer and it seems to be running fine is he out of the woods or is the infection lying in wait?

Thank you

Thank you for the reply.

I was asking out of curiosity and I will relay the information to him to see if he wishes to do so.

He seems convinced all is well but I have my doubts.

I understand and I agree.

I would like for him to follow up on it and I will try to get him to.

Sometimes using System Restore as a method of recovery works but other times it may not since System Restore was not designed to be a virus or malware removal tool. Whether it will be successful depends on what type of infection you are dealing with, what damage the malware has already caused, whether it disabled System Restore and if not, what is restored during the process.

I agree 100% and have suggested to him that he may not be out of the woods as of yet but, as of so far, to no avail.
