Hey guys.

I have two processes running both called csrss.exe, when locating them by right clicking and clicking file location both link to Windows\System32 and both highlight the same csrss.exe.

Is this normal?

also encase it's to any value this is the memory they both use

csrss.exe - 1956K

csrss.exe 2 - 1760K  (NOTE - IT ISNT CALLED csrss.exe 2 in task manager I've put 2 so you know it's the second one)

They do not drop or exceed this.

Thank you,

Craig.

*EDIT*

I've noticed something too, one of them ALWAYS has the session id - 0, but the other one has the session ID 1. But if i log out and log back in it changes to 2. And I'm the only user on this PC.

It's very hard to imagine all the crazy things that things really are like.

Mine shows almost 4,000 K and I have 4 svchost.exe running, but all this is very normal -

49 processes and 1% to 2% CPU Usage at the most - All quite normal and as expected .........

I can "shake" the Task Manager box and alter readings ...... but Why ???

Nothing is wrong - - -

But svchost.exe is different to csrss.exe isn't it? I've read that two csrss.exe usually means malware.

Not abnormal, not a sign of malware in Win 7.

As from hamluis "This is Normal" -

If you are concerned, Re Infection, please post in the correct area with all required details.

This section is for "general" Windows 7 problems -

Thank You -

Oh I wasn't concerned if I had an infection I was just wondering if there should be two processes csrss.exe processes running at the same time on Windows 7.
