Hi,

So a few days ago I had the same problem with the CD/DVD drive not working but it was a problem with the driver if you can look on my previous posts you will see it and I fixed it by restoring my laptop back 20 days. Now its 2 days later and I have the same problem but this time when I went in to Device Manager

DVD/CD-ROM drives

TTSTcorp CDDVDW SN-208BB Properties.

It says Device status "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I have attached a picture of this below.

Attached File  1.PNG   131.88KB   4 downloads

If you can please can you tell me how to fix this because I need the CD Drive for work and my children need it for school work. Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Alex.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply.

In most cases it can be easily fixed by following the below steps.

:step1: Create a system restore point

 http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

:step2: Download Tweaking.com Windows repair.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

:step3: Run the toll and go to step 3. Allow it to run System File Checker.

:step4: Go to repairs tab and click start button.

:step6: On the main screen, click unselect all to remove default selections. Now select only Repair CD/DVD missing . Click on box next to the Restart System when Finished. Then click on Start.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I followed those instructions and the problem is still not fixed. Also, how long is the repair supposed to take because as soon as I pressed start 2 seconds later the program closed and I got a message saying windows will shut down in less then a minute and my laptop restarted.

What shall I do?

Thank you.

Alex.

Hi

Please try the Microsoft Fixit from the below link.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems

Generally this type of problem are caused by the installation of softwares which uses a "CD ROM class filter" driver. For example Nero, ITunes, Roxio etc. So you should uninstall the last added software before applying the fix.

Hi

The error message displayed by iTunes can be fixed by re-installing it. Before that, please try the below steps.

:step1: Uninstall iTunes, Zune or other music players. Also uninstall CD burning apps like Nero, Roxio etc.

:step2: Once again run the tweaking.com tool.

:step3: If that didn't works, try the tool from the below link.

Hope it helps you.

Hi

Glad to be able to help  :thumbup2: . Most probably one of your music software or burning tool will be the real culprit. Please download and install the latest version of them from their site (including iTunes ).
