Hello, this is my first post :D.

Err ok back to the point.

Few days ago my windows xp professional suddenly started taking a REALLY long time loading desktop and the internet started started getting stuck on limited or no connectivity. I managed to fix them both (by deleting winsock temporarily) but now my internet is really slow.

it takes about a minute to load a page or it just fails to load it. it was never like this. Ive tried:

-resetting network

-some cmd commands (e.g ipconfig/ flushdns or winsock reset catalogue)

-ive checked for viruses and missing operating system files. (no problems)

-repairing services

-tdss killer

-OTL

-Tweaking.com-Windows repair

My internet connection is very good but sometimes changes speed from 6-52mbps (dont think thats normal)

There doesnt seem to be anything wrong with my computer and yet the internet is abnormally slow for browsing, streaming and mmorpgs.

my ping is around 20ms, download speed is around 6mbps and upload spd 0.80mbps. My jitter is bad occasionally and i sometimes recieve heavy packet losses.

Im not exactly computer savvy. Does anyone have any ideas please?  :s

and as im new to the forums im not sure if i posted this in the right place :P

What type of connection are you using, e.g., cable, satellite?

Are you using a router?

If you are is it connected via Ethernet cable or wireless?

There are a couple of things you can check if you are using a router.  If you are using a router with a wireless connection use a Ethernet cable and see if there is any difference in speed and consistency.

Try connecting to the computer directly to the modem and check for speed and consistency.

It would be worth checking to make sure that any coax cables are firmly connected.

I would also suggest calling you ISP to have them check their equipment.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon guys.

some other info.....

Im using a wireless network connection with a router. Its a desktop so pretty hard to move it but ill try connecting it to my router.

Oh and sometimes it says my internet is disconnected even though i can browse the web 0.o. I think it might be a services error or maybe a virus idk because this never happened before and all my other conections are fine. Ill try the minitoolbox kit too.

This is indicative of router problem.  There shouldn't be that large of a difference.

Did you have IE8 installed on this computer at one time and then uninstalled it?

I never installed IE 8 or uninstalled it.

As for why the connection had such a large difference, could the fact that i live in a double story house and that my computer is upstairs whilst my ethernet and router are downstairs be a reason?
