I have a problem here. I can open microsoft word, excel, etc. with no problem, however, when I try to open a previous document or save-as (through file-open) it will crash when I select a different folder in the open box.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office and getting all of the updates and I still have the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot work until this is fixed!!!

This may be caused by a recent Office patch. See my post to this thread to see if your problem matches those discussed by MS:

Try this: Do a search for the file normal.dot and delete it, do not worry when you reopen word it will remake the file up since it needs it to run. Then try another file. If this works now your system is infected and I suggest doing a hyjackthis.

Download Hijack This from Merjin

Go to the following to post your log file and it will be analyzed by a qualified tech

HijackThis Logs and Analysis

It will take a little while to get the results for this but it will be worth it. I would still suggest looking into the Windows Update as a possible problem just to be safe. Also try opening your files in another word processing program like WordPerfect or WordPad just to see it they work right. I would try WordPad first and it they do not work right in there I would reinstall WordPad
