My computer is currently running Ubuntu 11.04 but I want to scrap it and install Windows 7. I bought Windows 7 Home (full version)... I used another computer to make a bootable usb from the DVD using the program that Microsoft provides for this purpose (Microsoft USB/DVD Download Tool).
Now, the computer I am trying to install it to has no CD drive, which is why I did this. But when I try to boot it from the USB it doesn't work, and I am wondering if my BIOS is unable to boot from USB.
When I enter setup "Removable Device" is listed FIRST, then the Hard drive. 3rd boot option is disabled. But, when I restart it, it just boots from the hard drive and starts ubuntu as normal and ignores the USB. I am worried that it's unable to boot from USB, and if so, how the heck do I install windows without USB bootability or a cd drive??
The computer was custom built by a computer shop so it's not one of the big name HP or DELL or whatevers.
Anyways, I would appreciate any help so I can get Windows 7 installed! Should be simple but it's giving me huge headaches .
