I've been getting various BSOD's for the past few days now (attached).
(IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA.)

My system info:

8 gig of Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9
Asus P8Z68-V PRO
NVIDIA Asus GTX 570 graphics card.
850w power supply (Corsair TX850)
Intel i5 2500k @ 3.30ghz.
Crucial M4 SSD.
SAMSUNG HD103SJ x2

90% of the time I start my pc (after having it switched off for several hours) and within 10 minutes of normal use I'll get a BSOD.

When the system restarts, it's completely fine. I can run games etc for several hours with no problems.

Things I've tried:
MemTest86 - Tried both sticks in both slots at the same time and individually. No errors after 12 hours.

Rolled back nVidia drivers using safe mode and Driver Sweeper to a "safe" version that a lot of gamers seem to prefer as it's most stable.

Set BIOS to XMP Profile for the RAM. Which moved the "safe" value of 1333mhz up the normal 1600mhz. (As advertised on the box. i.e this is the proper speed.)

Ran OCCT and FurMark. GPU seems completely fine. (And plays high-end games fine.)

Defragged both HDD's.

Ran chkdsk and sfc /scannow

Let Windows Error Check all drives.

Ran full scan of MalwareBytes, Spybot Search + Destroy and Windows Security Essentials.

Ran the Windows Repair Tool from the Window 7 disc.

Checked motherboard for blown/leaking capacitors.

Ran Windows Update. (Got everything except language packs.)

Ran CCleaner and let it clean up.

Changed the registry entry so that Windows now clears the page file on shut-down.
Checked msconfig and services.msc for stuff that shouldn't be there.

Things I haven't done:

Updated the BIOS. The mobo is on the standard/out of the box version from 2 years ago. I don't think this'll make much difference and people seem to think BIOS updates are risky. I hope to avoid this if possible.

Ran Driver Verifier properly. (I enabled it and restarted my PC but the system hung at the "Starting Windows"/Windows logo. I had to enter safe mode and reset/disable it.

The fact that the machine runs in safe mode just fine and after a reboot suggests some driver conflicts somewhere rather than a hardware fault.

My copy of Windows 8 arrives of Tuesday, I don't mind installing it but I thought I'd ask here before rushing into anything.

None of my components are over-clocked at all. My RAM runs at the default settings of 1.5v (as recommended on the box).

Any words of wisdom?

Thank you for your time.

Like I said earlier, I have a Windows 8 Pro OEM arriving from Amazon tomorrow so I don't mind a reformat if it's needed.

None of them directly blames any third party drivers but there are some really old and incompatible drivers in your system. We should start with updating the old drivers first.

:step1: Enter BIOS setup and load default values.

We should let the BIOS to choose what is the best frequency and voltage setting for various components rather than choosing our self.

:step2: Update SSD firmware.

Crucial is infamous for buggy firmwares which leads to BSOD and freezes. Unlike hard drives, SSD always need a stable firmware to operate.

Download latest firmware update ISO from the below link.

http://www.crucial.com/firmware/m4/070H/ISO_crucial-c400.070H.07.00.zip

Burn the ISO to a blank CD using burn image to disc option. You can use any good CD recording app for that. I recommend Imgburn.

:step3: Install latest chipset driver.

Uninstall Intel Rapid Storage technology and Intel control center first and restart the system. Now download and install the latest drivers from the below link.

Chipset :  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/20775/eng/infinst_autol.exe&lang=eng&Dwnldid=20775&ProductID=816&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Chipset+Software+Installation+Utility

IRST :  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/22676/a08/SetupRST.exe&lang=eng&Dwnldid=22676&ProductID=2101&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Rapid+Storage+Technology+(Intel%C2%AE+RST)

:step4: Replace SATA cable of SSD drive.

Check and report how the system works in next reply. Make sure to follow all the steps. It is critical to determine root cause of the issue.

Yeah I had a "rounding error" with the SSD back in January. I stumbled across the firmware update which fixed it was I was formatting the contents of my D:\ drive :-(

I'll do as you instructed this evening and report a.s.a.p.

Thanks again.

Hi

After the firmware update completes, verify it by following the below steps.

:step1: Open device manager.

:step2: Expand disk drives.

:step3: Right click on the SSD and select properties.

:step4: Select details tab > select 'hardware lds' from the drop down menu and the firmware version will be displayed towards the right hand side.

Okay, I'm back. I did as instructed, looks like the SSD firmware has been applied. (I also installed and removed the other programs specified.)

The past 2/3 boots have been perfect with no blue screens (YET! *crosses fingers*),

I'll report back if anything changes. Next boot will be in around 8 hours.

Thanks again for your help.
