HDD and Bios Problem (Complex)

First days:
The computer crashed with a blue screen. After the crash the OS prompted the option to repair the HDD since it could not be booted. Half way done the repair it gets an error and restarts. After that, the HDD was unmounted and tried to recover the information with a HDD enclosure by using another computer. The HDD was too damaged to be read by windows so “HDD regenerator” was used instead. But it happen the same but this time it crashed at 2% of the recovery. The HDD was lost and no software could recover the information.
Today:

A new HDD was bought, Seagate 320 GB. It was mounted in the damaged computer tried to load it with Win8 install DVD. The HDD was recognized and so far seemed good. The computer boots the DVD and while starting the installation assistant it crashes again. Turned off-on and tried again, this time to found that in the boot menu there seem to be 4 partitions made in the new HDD. Since the DVD could not be booted this time, the HDD was mounted in another computer. In the second computer the HDD was booted with win8 and installed successfully. But while doing the installation the HDD had 6 partitions (assuming the HDD was “new”, if not it could be from old owner). The problem was that the HDD had only 300 GB able to use with 20 GB missing. This memory could not be found. After finishing with the installation the HDD was mounted in the damaged computer but it just simply won’t boot. When opening the boot menu, there are now 13 HDD partitions recognized.

To discard this information the HDD was mounted in an enclosure. Using disk manager the HDD has only 2 partitions (System reserved and main). The HDD is working so far but 20 GB lost and 13 ghost partitions make it doubtful.

Running out of ideas on what could be wrong with the laptop, it seems that it is the bios and if so ¿How could it be repaired if you cannot boot anything?

¿If it is not the bios what could it be?

¿The new HDD is damaged?

Firstly the seeming drive capacity discrepancy is normal for hard drives, a "320GB" hard drive will be reported by an operating system as having approximately "289GB" capacity. The difference is between two measuring standards based on powers of ten and powers of two:

Secondly, you cannot normally install Windows onto a hard drive in another computer, then transfer it into the one you want to use it in and depend on it being able to boot and operate successfully. It has been set up for the hardware in the other computer. There may be occasions where the hardware is similar enough that Windows can get started and sort its configuration out, but the fact it didn't work on this occasion doesn't necessarily indicate anything out of the ordinary.

 

Trying to track down the cause of a seemingly complex problem is best tackled by breaking it down into simpler sections.

 

I suggest the best first approach would be to try to independently confirm whether the second hard drive is in fact faulty. If the replacement drive can be zero-filled and tested OK using Seagate's tools:

then it can give you a reliable indication of whether something else in the system(s) is causing this problem. If the drive is also flagged as faulty, you have just been unlucky to have two faulty hard drives. In this situation, you could spend an age chasing non-existent faults in the other equipment.

 

If the second drive is confirmed as 100% OK, and starting fresh after being zero-filled (this returns the drive to ex-factory state) still can't establish a sound Windows installation, then it would be a process of elimination to pin down another piece of faulty hardware, such as bad memory.

 

However the fact that there have been odd problems when the new drive has been used in two different systems tells me it would best be proven first whether it simply also has a fault.
