I followed the instructions for creating and using a Hitman boot USB. It DID NOT remove the virus. Per instructions, I selected "bypass Master Boot Record". Windows XP started up and as expected, the Moneypak screen displayed. I waited several minutes, but the green HitmanPro screen did not appear. Anyone else encounter this?

Did you try to reboot to safe mode with command prompt and run the system restore command?

Tried to boot in safe mode (with and without networking).  It ignores my choice and does a regular boot and Moneypak Screen appears.

Hello -

Which exact version of the infection do you have (there are a few), and can you link the repair topic you followed ?

Thank You -

Hi -

The Department of Justice infection has not changed much, so this was posted about 2 months ago (May from memory)
Please check what you have done, with the guide listed HERE from Bleeping Computer.
Although they may look similar, many tutorials have a few slightly changed ideas.

Thank You.

I finally got Hitman Pro to start using Boot option 3 (Last Chance).  It scanned the computer, found a bunch of adware and quarantined it.  Rebooted again and Moneypak took over.

After a full wasted week, I bit the bullet and installed a new OS.
