I am trying to help a friend that has an old XP machine.

He came to me with.  " my Browser keeps opening the same page over and over."

I ran his Avast and it found nothing.

I loaded and ran malwarebytes Antimaleware and it found nothing.

I tracked the problem to a file called perflib_perfdata_514 in the temp file.

but I cant seem to get rid of it.

has anyone seen this before?

...he must be using a system monitoring tool of some kind - it stands for performance library - I use process explorer & when it's running I have that in temp file - when I close it it disappears - close accessory programs one at a time checking each time as you go to see which one puts it in there...
