Hi beth,

Did you get your machine from ebay or a local retailer?

Windows comes with troubleshooting and diagnostics tools. You could run these tools firstand it will automatically fix any issues found.

Since you just bought it, do you have a warranty on it?

I'm sure you can get help in our forum but if your computer is brand new why not get it fixed under your warranty if you can?

If that doesn't apply, please post your computer make/model so we can help you access the diagnostics tools as mentioned

--- Also please post the exact update and error message if there is one

Well how I missed that you already posted that your computer is an asus x401 is beyond me, sorry about that

If I can find the manual for your model I will post it

BTW, instead of pressing ok for the update, will the computer run ok?

I know I'm repeating myself here but I don't want the message to get lost

--- Consider the warranty idea if it makes sense to you

--- Please post the exact update and error message if there is one
