Hi out there!

I am looking for some suggestions / helps for a problem I am having with my computer.  I keep getting message that pops up at the bottom of my desktop that says "Setup.exe contained a virus and was deleted."  I can "learn more" and "view downloads, but both say the same . . . and there is no information that matters on this message.  It doesn't seem to matter what I am trying to open or download -- I keep getting this message.

Does anyone have anything I can try?  I tried to download Microsoft Security Essentials but just get that message.  I tried to open a picture my daughter attached to an email and got that message.  Please let me know if you have heard anything about this being a virus and what I can do.

Welcome aboard p22002758.gif

Most likely you're infected with ZeroAccess rootkit.

Please follow the instructions in THIS GUIDE starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it HERE. Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.

NOTE 1. Use another working computer to download necessary tools and USB flash drive to transfer them to bad computer.

NOTE 2. Install Panda USB Vaccine, or BitDefender’s USB Immunizer on GOOD computer to protect it from any infected USB device.
