I have a Windows 2003 Storage server, with shared folders and Users home folders. Beginning of this week users started complaining about missing files. When I checked on the server , folders are present but every file inside the folder is missing. I ran multiple antivirus program to see if there is any virus hiding the files, but didn't find any virus, Ran some data recovery tools but still not able to recover files from all folders.

Very curious to know what could have gone bad.. and how I can recover these files. Also ran check disk on the server and no problem reported with file system or the hard drives.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible the files were moved to local PC? Are the Home folders redirected with group policy or manually set? Any changes on your Domain controller?
