Hi. I'm fairly sure I had an infection recently, it pretty much froze my computer and stopped MBAM running. I decided to go nuclear and reinstall windows, deleting all the partions somebody else made on the HDD. I just want to be sure it's gone, as the computer still seems off, especially after reading this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/windowsupdate80080005-windowsupdatedt000/95494e23-ca8a-4dee-b731-3ef00af72619. When running Windows update for the first time, on shutdown the shutdown took over 14 hours. So I had to a cold-reboot. An error which appeared after I tried to install this update (update for windows 7 x64 based systems failed).

The error message had this:

"WindowsUpdate_80080005" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

"0x80080005 indicates that there is an Access Denied issue with the security descriptors of the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)." on the Microsoft site in particular worries me.

So just looking for any steps e.t.c to make me know I'm clean. Thanks.

Hello, to be certain we should get a deeper look. Please follow this Preparation Guide and post in a new topic.
Let me know if all went well.
