Modem Conection Problem

First,i know very little about computers.lots of words and abreviation,mean nothing to me.

Yesturday i turned on my computer,a few second later i lost conection.asumed the internet was down in my area,rare but it hapen.

end of the day.noticed it said that my conection was active.called my cable company and learned I just had to disconect my modem,they reset it,and plug it back.

Everything was fine.till today.
it keep disconecting every few minutes,can go up to 20 minutes.
got tired of unpluging and pluging.
Noticed the reset buton.It never stop!

Supossed to be someone coming tomorow to fix it.but i need my computer now.

Can anyone help?

I got a few problem since i put a new grafic card in(Geforce n6200)
and instaled Firefox not long ago.

computer is XP Home
Modem is a...RCA
got a cable conection

I wouldn't think (from the sound of it) like Firefox had anything to do with it. This is just a guess but is sounds more like it's getting hot.

Welcome to Bleeping Computer.
I had similar problems and it turn out to be the cable from the house o the junction box at the street. It would give me intermittant outages.

Well i fond the problem.
It was a bug. :thumbsup:

got rid of it but it came back the next day.
This time only the internet it self was down.
MSN,aim and my online game where working.

all gone and fix now.
