Hello, recently I've had my PC cleaned very helpfully by Bloopie the post can be found here

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/498424/unsure-if-i-have-malware/page-2#entry3095877

I didn't have any malware found but I did have adware and such.

However a little back story. I had a java virus when I stupidly installed a fake java update. I acted quicker than I could think and instead of consulting help MBAM removed it (i think) and I did a complete format and fresh install of windows. But I still feel there is something on my system. The other day my passwords kept coming up as wrong and as I have 2-step authentication on I thought I'd see if someone had sent a re-set link but nothing was sent so I'm not sure if I have a keylogger.

Thank you in advance for any help I get.

here are DSS logs.

I have come up with a problem with Combofix and would like assistance as I don't want to mess anything on my PC up. When I ran it I thought I turned Comodo off but it started asking me if Combofix was able to access my files etc.. when I clicked Yes it kept asking me every single time it wanted to access something. I thought okay I'll try and disable comodo again and this time it went away but Combo fix won't move at all and I've tried re-opening it and nothing happens. Any help?

Okay that worked great, I've ran all scans except the last two,

Combo Fix displays the following error

Error Opening file for writing:

C:\32788R22FWJFW\Ksvchost.vbs

Click Abort to stop the installation,

Retry to try again, or

ignore to skip this file.

What's happened. Also If I click ignore it does this over and over with different files.

I think COMODO interferred.

This folder was created by ComboFix.
C:\32788R22FWJFW\Ksvchost.vbs

Remove ComboFix.
  • The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
  • Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold text into the Run box and click OK:
  • ComboFix /Uninstall
Download a new version. Close COMODO and run the application.

Post the log if you can.

Hey nasdaq,

ive done all you've said succesfully but Combofix appears to be stuck. Either that or I'm more impatient than  i thought.

It just says the following;

Scanning for infected files...

this typically doesn't take more than 10 minutes...

However, scan times for badly infected machines may easily double.

Access is denied.

its been like this for a while

Craig

COMODO may have set a restriction and is blocking it.

Run this tool and will take it from there.

Download OTL to your desktop.
Double click on the icon to run it.
Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

OTL_Main_Tutorial.gif
  • Select All Users.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this text in bold in
netsvcs
BASESERVICES
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
/md5start
services.*
explorer.exe
winlogon.exe
Userinit.exe
svchost.exe
winsock.*
/md5stop
CREATERESTOREPOINT

Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Post both logs DO NOT ATTACH THEM.

Hey,

I have followed your instructions but when the scan finished it presented me with two blank notepads but with the names OTL and Extras.

Craig

The only thing that is common is COMODO.
You may have to remove it using the Add/Programs list.
Restart the computer normally.

Run the ComboFix and or OTL save the logs.

Reinstall COMODO and post the logs if you can.

Hurray it worked.

Then not so hurray as my internet connection is broke. I tried following the steps in the tutorial you sent me but i'm running Windows 7 and cannot find the 'repair' button where it tells me too (shown in winxp).

When I troubleshoot the problem I get the message

"Window can't communication with the device or resource (primary DNS server)"

How do I fix this, thanks

Craig

PS the logs can be posted when the internet connection is back

I have sorted the problem myself but please alert me if I have done something to make my PC vulnerable.

I followed instruction on the Microsoft answers website and this is what I did

"1. Click on Start and then Control Panel.

2. Go to Networking and sharing center and then click on Change adapter settings.
3. Right click on Local Area Connection and choose properties.
4. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 6 and click on Properties.
5. Choose Obtain DNS server address automatically and press Ok.
6. Choose Obtain IP address automatically.
7. Repeat the steps for Internet Protocol version 4 as well."

Below are combofix logs.
