Every time I open word I get a message that it needs to go through the configuration process.  This only happens with Word, not Excel, PowerPoint or OneNote.  My OS is Windows 7 (64-bit). I have MSE running.  This isn't urgent but it is certainly irritating.  I do have the original disk if I need to uninstall and reinstall, but am awaiting your expertise.  Thanks in advance :)

There are a number of possible causes. Try running through the diagnostics in this link and see if they help resolve the issue:

That's OK. Click Start, right click on Computer, click Manage, click on Event Viewer.

Ok this is beyond my knowledge.  There is nothing under error messages that is anywhere close to what is listed in that article.

If you're not comfortable with those steps, that's fine. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Office.

No. All you are deleting is the program. The documents will remain.

So just uninstall from the control panel, then reinstall with the disk?  Thanks again for your help.

Something else that may be beneficial for future situations (here's hoping you don't run into any!) - if you navigate to your Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Microsoft Office (whichever version), if you highlight the item and instead of uninstalling, choose the "Change" button, one of the options you'll have at your disposal is a repair - it doesn't require fully removing your product, and fixes quite a few of these issues.
