my main concern is whether these 3 files are big problems and how do i remove them since there's always that possibilty these 3 could lead up to more stuff...'cause everytime after startup, i would run AVG, ad-aware, spybotsd, and finally activescan which is the only programme that detects spyware...i then run crap cleaner to remove every other file (all cookies) except these 3....

i've tried searching for the atpartners.inf files but to no avail...I've tried searching through the hidden files and folders after enabling the hidden stuff to be able to be viewed...
as for the registry one, i'm not sure what to do....
i hope you guys can help me out..thanks...

Hello and welcome to the forum. Let's keep an eye on those items while we give you a good cleaning and remove some other stuff that should not be there. You said you have CCleaner, make sure it is up to date and run it according to the instructions I post later. Make sure you use the register cleaner (Issues) and make sure you back up the registry before you do when prompted.

1) Download, update, configure and run these two programs: http://tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php
The newest version of Ad-aware is 1.06 and Spybot 1.04. Even if you have these programs, use the link to get the newest version, update and configure them as in the link. Run Spybot first, reboot then run Ad-aware. Both programs back up what they remove so delete anything the programs say should be removed.

2) ewido scan:
Please download Ewido Security Suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
Ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: RichEditor Class - {F79A2C4B-8776-4ED7-8B2F-4786A4A3500A} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
O16 - DPF: {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} -
O16 - DPF: {0A5FD7C5-A45C-49FC-ADB5-9952547D5715} -
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0015-0000-0003-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in) -

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_...refetch-XP.html

Skip the download if you have it.
Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post the ewido scan results, a new HJT log and your comments.

Thanks...pskelley

i followed what you told me to do...spybotsd didn't detect anything...ad-aware removed 5 critical objects, which were all cookies...ewido then removed, if i'm not wrong, all of them...crap cleaner cleared out some stuff...but activescan detects the same stuff..here's the report :

Incident Status Location

Adware:adware/favoriteman Not disinfected c:\windows\downloaded program files\ATPartners.inf
Spyware:spyware/safesurf Not disinfected Windows Registry

i realised my computer's laggier than before...but just a little bit...maybe it's just because programmes need to load all over again for prefetch...

Hello and thanks for returning the information. Right you are about Prefetch and ewido is a security suite and you are paying the resource price for using it also. You can turn ewido off now, the scanner with updates you can keep if you want, Right now you are getting some realtime protection but that goes away after the trial unless it is purchased.

The only thing I see in the HJT log is this old Java line, you can remove it with HJT if you wish.
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - (no file)

This one: c:\windows\downloaded program files\ATPartners.inf
according to TrendMicro: http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/grayware/v...W%5FNETPALS%2EA
is a

ATpartners.inf (a non-malicious configuration file)

You can show hidden files and folders then locate and delete it if you want.

This one, if I Google comes back as: http://www.safesurf.com/ Hard to believe ActiveScan is calling that spyware, if you want it gone, since it's in the regristry, you will have to edit the registry to remove it. Let me know and I will provide a good free editor. I think ActiveScan is just being agressive in what they are calling a problem and I would not be concerned about either.

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
