Greetings all!  Is there anyone out there who is extremely familiar with uTorrent?   I'm attempting to download some files and although all of them have numerous seeds showing, I'm not in touch with any of them. One has over 560, so I don't trust my display that says there are none on line at the moment, or none that I can get in touch with. There were quite a few earlier that I was in touch with, and one of the files downloaded in just a few minutes. Then all the seeds went to zero while the total umber of them showing remained unchanged.

Questions: When I open the 'trackers' tab on the box at the bottom, 'Local Peer Discovery' and 'Peer Exchange' are showing as 'inactive'. Could this be affecting the lack of contacts, and if so, how do I activate these functions?

Also, several of the trackers listed by their addresses show 'scrape ok'.  What is this?  I've tried 'Start' and 'Force Start' and no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hey,

I'm sure talking about P2P filesharing on BleepingComputer is against the terms and conditions even though it is legal in your country.

I may be wrong but I thought I'd just let you know.

Torrenting applications have a useful purpose. Such as downloading various linux distributions for example. Discussion of the applications and tools of torrenting is completely acceptable. However discussion of how to use the tools to obtain copyrighted material is not okay.

The analogy of knives is applicable here. We would not discourage the discussion of various knife types or whats the best way to slice vegetables. We will however draw the line at whats the best knife to use in a mugging or while committing a crime.

The intent of use is what the determining factor is.

Animal,

I appreciate your post, and agree. If you read the post you'll see that I am not discussing any copyrighted material. I'm simply asking for translations of some of the acronyms (such as 'DHT' )  used on the site, and suggestions on how to maximize its operation.

BTW, cool avatar.

Animal,

Thank you very much. I'll check out those links ASAP.    :thumbup2:

WOW!  Most is over my head, but my important question about DHT (to enable, or not to enable...that is the question...) was answered.  The beginners guide helped a lot as well.

You're OK in my book, animal...I don't care WHAT that Rottweiler down the street says...

You're quite welcome.

That unlimited supply of bacon strips comes in handy with those pesky loudmouthed Rottweilers. :P
