I have a GW M series with Win 7 Ultimate Laptop

It will not see the cd/dvd rom at all. Not even in bios.

I have changed out the dvd rom without benifit.

I have not tried to boot to external dvd rom to re-install system and it

desnt seem to see the external dvd, USB, at all anyway.

Not sure what is going on at this point. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'll assume that the drives can be made to open and close the tray so that you know they are getting power.

Have you checked to be sure that you have the latest and greatest drivers from Gateway? Even if you do it might be worth downloading them and reinstalling them to see it they got lost the first time around.
