I have read many similar problems as the one I am having, but thought I would see if I could get a bit of advice myself.  I just started having random lockups while running medium-heavy graphic applications/games. Any sound playing will loop continuously with no response from the keyboard. A hard reset is the only fix.   The system is about 3-4 months old and has been running great until now.  No changes at all and no overclocking (other than the factory overclocked video card...suspect?.).  Any help would be appreciated.

There are a couple of things. You have a number of registry errors that need to be addressed.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/windows-7-faults-in-event-viewer-the-performance/6287de33-1a75-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?msgId=33ac25a6-9c75-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc774878(v=WS.10).aspx

The 0xc0000417 error code often occurs with games and is sometimes linked to hardware issues. See here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-gaming/error-unknown-software-exception-0xc0000417-when/08870af8-000d-43b5-a49b-c21ec5b36366

And you had quite a few instances of Chrome running. Any reason why?

Thanks for the tip.  I will check into the registry errors a bit more and see what I can correct.

I would imagine that the many instances of chrome running would be from the many windows I had open while searching for a answer to me issue.  I believe each tab open in chrome counts as a instance.

Yes, that would explain it. Just wanted to doublecheck and make sure you had opened all those windows, and it wasn't something else. Try the steps to address the possible hardware issue. If that doesn't fix it, you may have to uninstall and reinstall the game(s).
