I can't seem to find if there is more then one anit-virus program installed and/or running on my computer.... The reason this was brought to my attention is because I was reading an article that said your computer should only have one anti virus program. Since anti virus programs may have coded names (like in the add/remove program list) I am not sure what exactly is running for anti virus program. Also, i really don't understand the difference between the anti-virus and the malaware programs/software.

The main concern for this entry is because just clicking on "my computer" or "control panel" takes longer then necessary to open thus I heard can be caused by having more then one anti virus program running.

And I have had a java error when upgrading (the error titled: RUNDLL etc... the specified module could not be found) thus I heard can be caused by having more then one anti virus program running.

Any help would be appreciated, as my computer skills only go so far! LOL

Hello and welcome

We can see some things with these.

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.
Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

This log will also answer some items in your Intro post.

    [
  • Go to Piriform's website, and click the big download.png button.

Next, click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version.

You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.
  • After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
  • Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):
    speccyq.png

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot

You will see the following prompt:
    publish.png

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

    copydi.png

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the replyji.png button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

Congrats! You have just posted your specs!

I will try this and let you know it works out.... as for my question above, do you have any advise for that? I will repost the question here:

I still need to find the following information to complete my profile:

Antivirus Software, Firewall, Storage, Video Card, Soundcard, Power Supply, Case

Is there something that I can run that will give me this information?

Also, now that I gathered the info I needed from minitoolbox and speccy can I totally remove it from my computer???? And how?

Your Speccy link provides most of that information. If you give me a bit then I can provide it for you if you cannot find it.

Antivirus Software: Microsoft Security Essentials

Firewall: Windows Firewall

Storage: SAMSUNG SP2504C

Video Card: NVIDIA video (HP)

Soundcard: Realtek High Definition Audio

Power Supply: It doesn't say, perhaps you could find this if you look on your power sink (if you have a laptop). Otherwise, you might be able to find another program which tells you this (unless I'm missing something).

Case: You'd have to have a look yourself at it to try and find the make. Not sure if any tool would be able to find it for you.

Thanks xXToffeeXx, I not 100% great at seeing the information, unless it is listed exactly as lets say Video Card and then the information right next to it....

When I looked at Speccy the first time I didn't see the above posted.... its probably there it just doesn't stick out to me...

Thanks! -Stacey

Yey, thank you.... So I am only running ONE anti-virus... that's good. I wonder why I an getting the Java error and why my computer runs slow when I click on my computer or control panel. I read recently that it probably has to do with running multiple antiviruses, but it looks like i am not....

By the way, yes my computer is a desktop computer....

No problem, and it would seem that you are running one Anti-virus as I do not see any others. Yeah, sometimes it can be harder to find this information, a bit of searching and knowing exactly what you would be looking for does help  :thumbup2:

Hmm, so does the java error message still happen? That should be looked at since rundll is a windows file.

I clicked on Chrome and went to the Java verification website.... It said I am running (so I am assuming this is the most current)

Your Java configuration is as follows:
Vendor: Oracle Corporation
Version: Java SE 7 Update 25
Operating System: Windows XP 5.1
Java Architecture: 32-

actually, i am going to turn off and then on my computer to make sure changed take....

All right, I restarted the computer and everything seems to be working fine.... The only concern I have, is why does it take long to open "my computer" or "control panel" and also when I click on the internet. (I use chome and use firefox as secondary) Any advise for that?

I see in the Speccy log that you only have SP2.  Your MiniToolBox shows that you are having trouble getting updates.

You can't get the extended support from Microsoft without SP3, you need to download it to this computer.  This includes updates.

After you have done this rerun the MiniToolBox and post it so we can see if this resolved the issue.

You can also run . Click on All Programs. Click on Windows Repair (All in one), this may be listed as Tweaking.com. If you are running Windows Vista, 7, or 8 right click on Windows Repair (All in one) and then click on Run as administrator. Notice: You will need to disable your antivirus in order to run this program, for this reason you should run this while off line. Go to Step 2 and click on the Do it button to allow CheckDisk to run. windowsrepairstep2-1_zps08aed02b.png Go to Step 3 and click on the Do it button to run System File Check. windowsrepairstep3-1_zps935b7603.png Go to Step 4 and click on the Create button under System Restore. windowsrepairstept4-1_zpseb336401.png Go to Start Repairs and click on the Start button. Important: Do not make any changes to the check marks. For those running Windows 8 please note that Reset Registry Permissions is not checked by design. When the page below opens click on the Start button. windowsrepairstartrepairs-1_zpsa179850d. Please copy and paste the Windows Repair Log in your next post. This log (_windows_repair_log.txt) is located in the following folder: * 64-bit systems file path - C:\Program Files (x86)\Tweaking.com\Windows Repair (All in One)\Logs * 32-bit systems file path - C:\Program Files\Tweaking.com\Windows Repair (All in One)\Logs Copy the file path for your version of Windows (32-bit or 64-bit), click on the Start orb startorb_zps06e1f985.png and paste it in the Search all programs and files box. Click on Logs. Click on _Windows_Repair_Logs. Copy and paste this log in your next post.">Window Repair (all in one) to see if this will resolve the issue if the SP3 doesn't.

Yes, that would be the most current version of Java. Follow what dc3 does and hopefully this will fix some of the errors. Can you also post whether the slowness clicking on "my computer" or the "control panel" still happens.
