I got Microsoft .NET Framework 4 through my GPU's Drivers. It's a NVIDIA Geforce GTS 250. I was getting the 320.18 drivers (the latest) They were all installed without a problem.

Several hours later, I get 17 more updates. Mostly about security fixes and updates to .NET Framework 4.

Everything installs fine, except for two of them. Both are titled "Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7,".. blah blah blah.

I restarted of what updates it could install, then CHKDSK pops up after the restart and checks my C drive and finds nothing, does another restart, the windows updates try to install, and there's another restart.

Then finally I'm able to get on my desktop again.

I tried to get the updates again. Again, both fail. What's going on?

When chkdsk runs on its own...the system has a problem.

From a command prompt, run the chkdsk /r command on your Windows partition.

If the updates won't install, you can try downloading them manually and installing them after booting into safe mode. KB2600217 fixes some instability issues in .NET framework 4, while KB2468871 is a series of hotfixes and patches to .NET 4.

You can download the .NET 4 framework package here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=221217

Boot into safe mode and try installing it from the desktop.
