Yesterday the computer was fine, but today the some of the keys on the keyboard are typing numbers and letters at the same time.

For example, when I type "a" it shows up as "a1". These are the keys its doing that on:

a1 d3 f4 8i j7 k8 l9 9o 0p 1q 4r s2 7u 2w

I've tried:

  • Ctrl + Shft,
  • updating the driver
  • System Resore from a week ago
  • booting in safe mode (still had the same problem)
  • running a scan from Microsoft Securtiy Essentials (Came up clean)

Can anyone help? I haven't spilled anything on it

That can be a sign that your keyboard has failed.

Now I have to ask this (there is a reason I ask but will go into more detail if the answer is yes)
Do you happen to have Xfinity/Comcast as your internet provider?

The reason I asked is because Comcast has a branded security suite it offers free to customers. One aspect of the suite has caused keyboard issues which disappear when that particular feature is uninstalled.

Hopefully others will chime in with more ideas. In the meantime you might want to let us know if the computer is a laptop or desktop. Also post the manufacturer/model number.
