I recently got a Debian server that has a ASROCK UEFI motherboard. I would like to install Rocks instead, however when I go into the UEFI setup utility to alter the boot order, I only see the hard-drives as being bootable devices. So I figured i would poke around to see if the cd/dvd drive got mounted when the current Debian OS has booted and I see the /dev/cdrom mounted to /media/cdrom0. I go to /dev/cdrom and that directory does not exist (so i created it), and while /media/cdrom0 exists there is nothing in it despite the fact that i have a bootable image on the cd that is installed. I have tried "mount -t all" and to manually mount the cd as follows:

mount -t iso9660 /media/cdrom0/ /dev/cdrom
mount: /media/cdrom0 is not a block device

mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom  /media/cdrom0/
mount: /dev/cdrom is not a block device

(i did it both ways because i thought i might have the order wrong)

In either case i can't seem to get the cd/dvd rom to get mounted...are there any other ways to test if this media device is bad and needs to be replaced?  When i put a cd in it the little green activation light comes on for several seconds, as though it is reading the disk, then goes dark.

Any advice would be most appreciated - i'd really like to reinstall my OS.
